Chapter 2020: January - Detoxing Life #FreshStart

A Clean sweep and a fresh start.

This is not a "New Year / New Me" bullshit blog post. I've been working on this for a few months... I like to do a clean sweep of my social media life. A detox.

I discovered that over the years of being online, it's good to wipe it clean from time to time and start fresh. That doesn't mean things change overnight or suddenly, but it does feel good to do. I take the time to download photos I want to keep and put them on jump drives and organize them into my cloud storage. I print the most meaningful ones and after I put away the last of Christmas, I refresh the frames around my home with newer photos of loved ones.

A newer tradition for me the last few years, on New Year's day,  is to slowly transition into the new year with cleaning out my home's nooks and crannies.

As I pack up holiday decorations and swap out red and green for the purple, green and gold of Mardi Gras, I also toss aside the clutter of last year... putting things in a pile for our annual garage sale in June, and filling a few donate bags for goodwill, but most importantly, throwing out the garbage.

It feels good to get it out.

Out of my home.

Out of my social media.

Out of my head.

Happy 2020 to you.
